Fiesta Pilar in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (October 11) ---  Zamboangueños in L.A. will be celebrating Fiesta Pilar at the Bob Hope Park in Burbank this Saturday. The Zamboanga Hermosa Club of Southern California (ZHCSC) will have theirs---as usual---in Orange County.
The celebration in L.A. is a welcome respite for many young and old ZHCSC members who find Orange County too far to drive or commute. At least in L.A. the drive to this year's (first) gathering is not that far.
My grandmother, Lourding (Mamang) Atilano-Shinn, the matriarch of the Shinn clan and one of the founding members of ZHCSC, is attending the affair at the Bob Hope Park in Burbank. Many ZHCSC members told us they will also attend the L.A. gathering instead.

Robert (Bobby) Short of Arizona will be in L.A. for the Saturday picnic. He will be accompanied by his brother Johnny and several other cousins. They are expected to arrive in L.A. by Saturday morning.
Chito Ignacio, who resides in Florida, is now in town and painting it red together with Gines and Gino E. This was the message relayed to me by one of my moles at Sanborn. Chito is reportedly on R&R and chose L.A. to be his weekend destination.
Also attending this weekend's celebration from San Francisco: Butch Alano, LAZT's San Francisco bureau chief Chito Lopez and Renee Atilano-Paradero.

MORE TO COME LATER...........
